We are planning
something SUPER EXCITING for the entire school and community!
The song, “Something
beautiful” is the new anthem for the Lets Grow Kids organization! Let’s Grow Kids is on a mission to provide
quality affordable child care for all Vermont families. Below is part of the Lets Grow Kids vision:
Let’s
Grow Kids believes that, as a state, we have allocated too few resources to
supporting our youngest children, their families and the critical early
childhood professionals who provide quality early care and learning
programming.
High-quality, affordable child care is not only good for our
young children and families, it also makes smart economic sense. We all have a
role to play in this work and we believe that the time is now to begin making
concrete steps forward.
In order to meet the needs of Vermont’s young children and their
families, Let’s Grow Kids envisions a voluntary, universal, high-quality early
care and learning system for all Vermont children birth to five. We believe
that the best place to start is in building on our current universal,
high-quality pre-K program and pairing it with a high-quality, affordable child
care system that meets the needs of all Vermont children. We believe that
through additional analysis, community-led conversations about child, family
and community needs, and collaborative dialogue, as recommended by Vermont’s
Blue Ribbon Commission on Financing High Quality, Affordable Child Care, Vermont
can achieve an equitable, affordable and high-quality early care and learning
system for children birth to five likely to need care by 2025.

What
my plans are is the following:
On
February 6th, LES students are going to be walking to school from
the gazebo. Let’s Grow Kids is going to
be giving us capes, (as seen in the video), for all of the children and
siblings to wear! I’ve asked Okemo
Valley TV to film us walking!
Then
at 8am I’m hoping to have not just LES and parents, but BRHSMS student, staff
and families!
All
gathered in the gym to sing, “Something Beautiful”, the song featured in video!
The
lyrics will be a separate attachment to this newsletter!
I
will have lyrics projected on big screen in the gym, but thought it would be
helpful to be familiar with the words and tune!

plan on sharing the video created from this day at Early Childhood Day at the
Legislature in March! (As well as have it shown on our local station!)
Very
exciting, fun and something to look forward too!
